Nature Hunt
All of the items listed below can be found throughout The Park and along the trails.
STAY ON THE PATHS. It is not necessary to leave the path to find these items.
DO NOT TOUCH or collect any of the items listed below, but just try to see or identify these items found in a natural setting:
1. Identify 3 different animal habitats (without disturbing the animals).
2. Can you see a Pencil Cactus (also known as a Christmas Cactus) – do NOT touch it, the thorns really hurt!!
3. Identify the sound of at least one animal.
4. Can you see a Mesquite Tree – do NOT touch it, the thorns are painful!!
5. Can you find 1 kind of animal droppings – don’t touch it – it’s gross!
6. Identify a cedar tree.
7. Can you see a small rock in the playground gravel that looks like a crystal?
8. Can you see (but not touch) a caterpillar or it’s chrysalis?
9. Can you see and name 2 flying things?
10. Can you see a stick insect – don’t touch it, they’re fragile and can get hurt easily.
11. Wild rabbits live in The Park, see if you can spot one!
12. Identify (but don’t touch) an arachnid.
13. Identify Yaupon Holly plant (Hint: during season it has small, red berries)
14. Look at a thorny vine.
15. Find a beetle.
16. Squirrels are abundant Park, see if you can spot one.
